Drawing from a case study of “Um É Pouco, Dois É Bom,” a film digitally restored in 2024 through a collaboration between Cinemateca Capitólio, INDETERMINAÇÕES, and Mnemosine Serviços Audiovisuais, participants will engage in a conversation about the process of reviving Odilon Lopez’s feature film. The discussion will focus on both the technical aspects and the political and historical implications it carries for Brazilian cinema. How does the re-circulation of a film directed by a Black filmmaker in the 1970s reshape the narrative of Brazilian cinema history? Furthermore, how can this project contribute to the development of audiovisual preservation policies that prioritize Black authorship?
