Synopsis

The narrator claims to be a hippopotamus. Although he doesn’t perceive the passage of time, he shares stories from his past. Pepe, the first and only hippopotamus to die in the Americas, is portrayed by different voices and languages throughout the film, conveying stories from the places he has traveled. Nelson Carlo de Los Santos Arias presents a film with a sharp sense of humor and inventive storytelling, constantly reinventing itself through various devices, approaches, and memories spanning from Africa to the Americas.
