Synopsis
Transitioning between urban and rural landscapes, navigating “sub-employment” and informal work in São Paulo’s capital, and the lives of farm workers known as “boias-frias” in the sugarcane plantations of the state’s hinterland, the film explores various layers of contemporary working-class marginalization. Through the interaction of a fictional character with real-life contexts and figures, Guilherme Martins expands on the concept developed in his nearly homonymous short film to address enduring social issues in Brazil with both sharpness and humor.
