Synopsis

Drawing from entries in her diary, as well as the sequencing and soundscapes of her photographs, “I’m Not Everything I Want to Be” introduces us to the life and work of Czech photographer Libuše Jarcovjákové. Moving between Prague, Berlin, and Tokyo during the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia, the photographer’s relentless and meticulously documented pursuit of an authentic mode of existence and creativity guides us through unfamiliar territories, drawing us closer to a body of work and an existence as unique as they are commonplace.
