Synopsis
From the sky, Nhanderu sends forth lightning bolts that briefly brighten the earth on one of those many nights when vigilance is paramount. A night when people race through the woods to reclaim what is rightfully theirs. In Guarani territory, these bolts streak across the sky, dissolving boundaries demarcated by barbed wire, allowing the film to choreograph the dance of war, of dreams, and above all, of the collective reconquest of Tekoha by these people. Combining scenes of conflict with the ongoing struggle for the right to everyday life, prayer, planting, and meditation, the film by the Guahu’i Guyra Collective pieces together its images as a ritual of reverence to their own. This short-film belongs to PGM 4 and will be screened with “They Dug a Grave In My Heart”, “Outside is Inhere” and “Ever Since, I Have Been Flying”

Guahu'i Guyra Collective
The Guahu'i Guyra Cinema Collective has been working since 2014 on making films in collaboration with the Guarani and Kaiowá community of Tekoha Guayvyry. Following the success of our first feature film, "Ava Yvy Vera - A Terra do Povo do Raio" (2016), our productions have made their way into film festivals and television channels. The collective's goal is to depict, through cinema, our reality of defending land and life.
