In this workshop, our aim is to engage in a casual conversation and share insights from my experience in film direction, leveraging specific examples to prompt reflections on the craft. We’ll delve into every stage of film direction, spanning from script analysis and guiding actors, progressing through collaboration with other departments, and concluding with editing and post-production. Our primary emphasis will be on the dynamics of the film set, exploring the decisions directors must make – often under pressure – and the ethical and aesthetic dimensions of the work. Essentially, we’ll share experiences about the myriad challenges and delights of being a film director.
