This workshop dives into the critical legal dimensions of filmmaking in Brazil, with a particular emphasis on understanding intellectual property. We’ll cover topics such as authorship, ownership, protected works, fair use, and production and distribution contracts. Our objective is to equip professionals with the expertise to identify and comprehend the rights associated with audiovisual production, thereby instilling confidence and legal assurance in production processes and negotiations. Through a practical approach, the workshop incorporates industry case studies, analysis of legal precedents, and interactive discussions to ensure a firm grasp of the fundamental legal concepts that underpin the film industry.

Nanashara Piazentin
With degrees in Law and Journalism, Nanashara Piazentin is a specialized attorney in intellectual property. Providing legal counsel to various companies in the cultural sector, she holds a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of creative industries. Her expertise extends to advising projects and cultural and commercial endeavors across various artistic fields and content production. She particularly focuses on legal matters related to filmmaking and international co-productions. Founding partner of Piazentin Attorneys, a legal firm specializing in culture, entertainment, and technology, and Albatroz Media, a production company focused on co-production and content internationalization. Previously, she served as a Municipal Counselor for Cultural Policies in Balneário Camboriú and represented the Audiovisual Sector Chamber. Additionally, she holds positions as Vice-President of the Arts and Culture Law Committee at OAB/BC, coordinates the Free Culture Division at Creative Commons Brazil, and serves as a Counselor of FUNCINE - Florianópolis Film Fund.
