A rare Brazilian debut feature that places drama and actors in the foreground. By tackling complex, hyper-contemporary themes such as celebrity culture and neo-Pentecostal churches, the film avoids easy controversy or simplification, using them merely as the backdrop for a small-scale, delicate, and attentive character study.
