“Convictions” explores basic conflicts – emotion versus duty, individuals versus society, bureaucracy versus humanity. It does so through scenes in which interviews for Russian military draft recruitment are disrupted in ways that no one understands and by which everyone involved is disturbed. It is a film in which people are forced to acknowledge each other as human beings with equal needs. What to do with this realization is left up to us all.
