A young woman arrives in Cilaos, a village on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean, looking for her father, a man she has never met. From the Colombian director Camilo Restrepo, “Cilaos” follows the ritualistic journey of a woman in search of her roots, evolving past and present, memories and discoveries. Cilaos, which means the place one never leaves, is a sensory investigation filmed in 16mm film about roots, beliefs, myths, colonial heritage, and trance-inducing rhythms.
