Reha Erdem is a spectacular filmmaker, and Big Big World is a jewel in his crown. The Turkish director’s ninth feature weaves a fairy tale out of an escape made by an orphaned adult brother and teen sister from dangerous civilization into forest. It is a film painfully relevant to discussions of Turkish society and politics today, one made up of lyrical movements that frighten with a possibility of violence around them and lull with a hope for peace.
