“All the cities of the North” is one of the most vital films of the past few years. The film makes an argument for valuing life. It does so by taking some of the most basic elements in cinema – landscape, architecture, and the human figure – and combining them in ways that encourage us to breathe more deeply, sense more, and feel more. Even if the film gives the impression of humanity starting over, it expresses a hope for the future of the race.
