No one has the slightest doubt that what is happening in Syria today is one of humankind’s greatest tragedies, but at the same time, few can say they can begin to understand what in fact drove this country, with such a rich history, to decline so fast towards a misshapen hell. With this film, the filmmakers seem to wager on cinema’s capacity to shed light on the issues of our time in such a way that the thousands of hypermidiatized images are unable to. A cry for help, but also a declaration of love for the power of cinema.
